Blizzard nerfs Mythic+ dungeons and the Hunter's Ritual Stone as WoW Season 2 opens

The Season 2 tuning pass drops Murder Row's enemy forces to 655, reworks the Avatar of Sethraliss, and cuts the Patch 12.1 crafting embellishment from 165 secondary stats to 101.

Blizzard has posted Mythic+ dungeon tuning that lands with the launch of World of Warcraft Season 2, cutting difficulty across most of the seasonal dungeon pool, Wowhead reports. The changes apply during scheduled weekly maintenance in each region, and the Mythic lockout for Season 2 dungeons now resets daily.

Murder Row takes the broadest pass: required enemy forces drop to 655 from 690, a Corrupted Warlock and two Wrathguard Flayers have been cut from the approach to Xathuux the Annihilator, the Cantina event Five Star Review now runs five minutes instead of four, and Felmaster Lucsei's Blade Dance gains a two-second cast time with 10 percent less impact damage.

  • Kings' Rest: the Council of Tribes now ends immediately once Zanazal the Wise is defeated.
  • Voidscar Arena: Aegyra the Unyielding's Champion's Spear has 15 percent less health, and Raj'kess the Spellstorm's Disruption Orb cast falls to 13 seconds from 15.
  • Den of Nalorakk: Warding Incense now grants 5 percent Versatility instead of 3, benefits every ally in the instance, and persists through death.
  • Ruby Life Pools: Melidrussa Chillworn's Hailburst cast time rises to three seconds from two, and Kyrakka's Flaming Embers shrink to a five-yard radius from seven.

The Avatar of Sethraliss gets the most structural rework. Blizzard's developer notes say the goal is to cut the passive healing the boss receives from Cleansed Lifeforce so player healing matters more, and to draw more of the group into Corrupted Lifeforce. The soak window on Corrupted Lifeforce grows to six seconds from 4.5, Corruption's physical vulnerability falls to 250 percent from 300 percent while its periodic damage rises by a third, and the Cleansed Lifeforce healing aura can no longer stack past three applications and ticks every three seconds rather than every two.

Separate hotfixes pushed live ahead of the season change two Venomcursed items that scale to Myth 9/6 item level. The Awoken Dreadfang Cuirass now carries Mastery rather than Critical Strike on both its secondary stats and its proc, and the Chausses of Unbound Rancor swap the other way.

The Hunter's Ritual Stone weapon embellishment, added in Patch 12.1, has also been cut down. It no longer scales with item level and now provides 101 secondary stats, down from a maximum of 165. It had been the clear best option for crafted weapons at roughly 50 percent stronger than Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt, the previous front-runner for most classes; the nerf brings the two much closer together.

Blizzard's separate August 17 hotfix notes cover four classes. Beast Mastery Hunter's Dire Beast Kill Commands from the Wildspeaker talent now correctly benefit from Killer Instinct, Alpha Predator, Specialized Arsenal and Savagery; swapping from Shadow to Holy no longer stops Shadow Word: Pain becoming Holy Fire; Shaman spec swaps no longer show Lava Burst as Primal Strike in the spellbook; and Destruction Warlock's Shadowburn tooltip displays the correct duration. In delves, Ula'tek's Amphisbaena can only apply one Writhing Strike poison aura at a time, with 25 percent less damage and a longer cooldown.
