WoW hotfixes open Vaults of Atal’Utek summons to more players

Blizzard’s August 13 Patch 12.1 hotfixes also correct Delve Great Vault credit and gate the Curse of Ula’tek campaign behind Midnight.

Blizzard has published a round of World of Warcraft Patch 12.1 hotfixes dated August 13, headlined by a change that lets players who have not finished the precursor campaign quests be summoned into the Vaults of Atal’Utek by Altar of Fangs dungeon groups. Wowhead published the notes.

Several of the day’s fixes target Delves, where reward attribution had been misreporting what players were owed. Blizzard said the Shadowguard Survivor point was not granting Great Vault credit on completion, and that Ritual Sites appeared to grant Great Vault rewards inconsistent with the tiers actually available. The studio said the Great Vault will award the intended tiers 1 through 6 for week one activities from next week.

Notable fixes in the August 13 build

  • Spirit Walk in the Vaults of Atal’utek now applies to pets, and Affliction Warlocks’ Seed of Corruption no longer fails to consume Shard Instability on cast.
  • Corrosive Powers unlocked on one character now appear as options in the Corrosive Codex on other characters.
  • In Altar of Fangs, Uncoiled Writhe no longer constantly switches target with Spiteful Hunt, and the Infusion Totem event should now trigger reliably.
  • Defeating Aegyra the Unyielding while she channels Earthsplitter no longer fails to open the Voidscar Arena door.
  • Gorgoneion Gaze no longer petrifies players indefinitely, and Otherworldly Sparks of War now drop in Naigtal and Val activities.

Curse of Ula’tek now requires the Midnight campaign

The largest behavioural change is a quest gate. Blizzard fixed an issue that allowed players to begin Curse of Ula’tek campaign quests without first completing the main Midnight campaign, and said in developer notes that the requirement was always intended: completing the two out of order could leave players in a misleading or confusing state.

Players who have not yet started Curse of Ula’tek must now complete the main Midnight campaign on one character per account. Anyone already partway through the campaign is unaffected and can finish it as normal. Separately, players who split the “Legends of the Haranir” quests across multiple characters can now resume “The Empty Cradle” questline.

The remainder of the list covers professions, items and world fixes: Jewelcrafting and Tailoring Profession Knowledge books from the forces of Zul’jarra now correctly award Knowledge, with retroactive grants for players who collected them earlier; the Venomjade Necklace is no longer sometimes invisible; and a bug that could disconnect players entering the Lunarfall Garrison Excavation area has been fixed.
