WW have won WINLINE MPKBK CIS LAN Season 6, beating Virtus.pro in a five-map grand final that ran the full distance.
The result was worth more than 200 Valve Regional Standings points to WW, who jumped 40 places in the global ranking on the back of it. Virtus.pro's run to the final earned them more than 100 points and moved them closer to the world's top 30.
How the final played out
Virtus.pro took the opening map, Mirage, to lead the series 1-0. WW answered with wins on Nuke and Dust2, strong first halves on both giving them the room to close out a 2-1 lead. Virtus.pro forced a decider on Cache behind a performance from Alexander "AquaRS" Kovalev.
Anubis settled it. Denis "deko" Zhukov posted a 2.59 rating on the deciding map, including a 3.44 rating and a +21.92 percent swing on the CT side, and produced 31 frags across 20 rounds — more than three of his teammates managed combined.
The two teams had met earlier in the event, with Virtus.pro taking the group-stage meeting. WW recovered from that loss and knocked out one of the tournament favourites, TDK, in a close semi-final. Virtus.pro reached the final more comfortably, dropping only two maps on the way and leaning on the form of Vladimir "b1st" Krasikov.
What the title means for both sides
HLTV notes the title is a significant one for WW, a roster that counts full-time streamers among its players — among them Ivan "StRoGo" Shurpatov, who has more than 2.2 million followers on Twitch. Winning a LAN with that line-up, from a group-stage loss and through one of the event's favourites, is the strongest result the team has posted in the ranking period.
Virtus.pro leave without the trophy but not empty-handed. The run was, by HLTV's reading, a success on its own terms given what it did for their standing, and it was built on a smoother path than their opponents': two dropped maps across the whole event before the final went the distance.
