xD has defeated the Lost Explorers, the second boss of the Venomous Abyss, taking the world first Mythic kill on the encounter and leapfrogging Consequence in World of Warcraft’s Race to World First, Wowhead reports.
The guild needed 28 pulls on the trio of turtles, and finished by the skin of its teeth: its two Blood Death Knight tanks were the only members of the raid still standing when the encounter ended.
xD brought a double-tank, four-healer setup weighted heavily toward ranged damage, with ten of its twenty raiders on ranged specialisations:
- Tanks: two Blood Death Knights
- Healers: Holy Paladin, Restoration Druid, Discipline Priest and Restoration Shaman
- Melee: two Arms Warriors, one Subtlety Rogue and one Windwalker Monk
- Ranged: two Frost Mages, two Marksmanship Hunters, one Shadow Priest, one Elemental Shaman, one Destruction Warlock, one Devastation Evoker and one Devourer Demon Hunter
Only four specialisations appear more than once in that group: Blood Death Knight on both tank slots, two Arms Warriors among the melee, and two Frost Mages and two Marksmanship Hunters at range. The four healers come from four different classes, Paladin, Druid, Priest and Shaman, and every other slot in the raid is a single copy of its specialisation.
The kill moves xD ahead of Consequence on the second of the raid’s bosses, with the rest of the Venomous Abyss still ahead of both guilds. Wowhead, which is running coverage of the race, described it as only starting to get good.
