Arc Raiders generated ¥18.3 billion ($114.9 million) for Nexon in the second quarter and sold a further 800,000 units, taking the extraction shooter to 16.3 million lifetime sales. Embark Studios' game has now brought in more than ¥88 billion ($552.8 million) since launch, according to results reported by GamesIndustry.biz.
The quarter in numbers
- Revenue: ¥121.1 billion ($760.8 million), up 2%.
- Operating income: ¥31.3 billion ($196.6 million), down 17%.
- Net income: ¥29.6 billion ($185.9 million), up 77%.
The jump in net income is largely an exchange-rate effect: Nexon booked a ¥1.7 billion ($10.6 million) FX loss this quarter against a ¥17.5 billion ($109.9 million) loss in Q2 2025. Operating income fell 17%, which the company attributed to a shift in its product mix toward higher revenue-linked costs such as creator fees, user acquisition, cloud service fees from global live services and data usage, and higher software service fees.
Across the older franchises the picture was mixed. MapleStory, Dungeon & Fighter and FC together produced ¥81.2 billion ($510.1 million), down 5% year-on-year. MapleStory revenue rose 63%, with MapleStory Worlds beating Nexon's own outlook and growing 123% year-on-year on the back of two user-generated worlds launched in Korea and Taiwan in late April. Dungeon & Fighter fell 44% year-on-year, in line with expectations, and Nexon expects a further decline in Q3 before a sequential recovery. The FC franchise came in below outlook, with Nexon describing FC Online monetisation and traffic as softer than expected.
What Nexon expects next
Preparations are under way for the largest Arc Raiders content update since launch, scheduled for October. Nexon also has four new games planned for 2026: Arad: Idle RPG in Q4, a mobile version of Dave the Diver in late September, Azur Promilia, and Temppal: Overgeared.
Looking ahead to the second half of this year, a steady sequence of catalysts include continued strength in the MapleStory franchise, Frozen Trail update for Arc Raiders, and a series of new title releases.
For the third quarter Nexon is guiding to revenue between ¥120.7 billion ($758.4 million) and ¥133.4 billion ($838.2 million), a 2% to 12% year-on-year increase, with operating income of ¥22.6 billion ($142 million) to ¥32.3 billion ($202.9 million) — a decline of between 40% and 14%.
