Konami has announced that it will be terminating service for Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, according to Polygon. The game will be delisted from Apple Arcade on August 20, and servers will go offline on September 3, 2026, making the game completely unplayable. Konami made the announcement on the official Grimoire of Souls site, thanking players for their support over the years.
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls was launched on Apple Arcade in September 2021, and has been supported by many players since then, as stated by Konami. The game features a unique setup where evil escapes from books chronicling the history of Dracula and his castle, and players explore these books in small levels, introducing iconic characters from across the series. The game plays like a traditional 2D Castlevania game, with the addition of cooperative and multiplayer modes.
As an Apple Arcade title, Grimoire of Souls has no in-app purchases, making it appealing in the age of gacha games and live-service titles with microtransactions, according to Polygon. Prior to service termination, players can download the game before August 20 and play it for two weeks before the servers go offline.
