Faker and Chovy's signed chessboard goes to auction until August 31

The board the two mid-laners played on during an Esports World Cup content shoot is the event's first one-of-one collectible.

A handmade chessboard signed by League of Legends mid-laners Faker and Chovy has been put up for auction, Dexerto reports. The board is the one the two players used during an Esports World Cup content shoot on July 14, and the Esports World Cup is billing it as its first one-of-one collectible, with no duplicate or additional edition planned.

The shoot placed the two Korean players — long-standing rivals on Summoner's Rift — across a chessboard instead of a keyboard. Faker is widely regarded as the greatest League of Legends player of all time, while Chovy has become one of the few players to challenge him repeatedly at the top of the Korean scene. Both signed the board after the match.

Dexerto frames the shoot as a swap of formats rather than a novelty: the pair's rivalry normally plays out through teamfights, lane pressure and championship runs, and the exercise moved two players known for strategy and decision-making into a second game built on the same qualities. There was no keyboard or Baron steal involved.

According to Dexerto, the lot ships with a set of premium chess pieces and a certificate confirming it is the same board the pair used during the shoot. Bidding runs through the Esports World Cup website and closes on August 31, 2026, timed to open alongside the event's Chess tournament.

Where the money goes

Once bidding closes, the proceeds are to be split between T1, Gen.G and the Esports Foundation, and directed toward player wellbeing initiatives across esports. Dexerto does not report a reserve price or a current high bid.

The auction follows the latest instalment of the pair's rivalry at the tournament itself. Both players arrived at Esports World Cup 2026 holding one title each and met in the third-place match, where Chovy's Gen.G beat Faker's T1. Neither won the race to become the first two-time Esports World Cup champion in League of Legends, leaving that mark open beyond this year's event.
