Warren Spector, the creator of the Deus Ex series, has announced his retirement from game development, according to Video Games Chronicle. Spector had a long career in the industry, starting with tabletop RPGs and then joining Origin Systems in 1989, where he co-produced Ultima 6 and Wing Commander.
Spector stated on his LinkedIn page that he feels he has accomplished what he set out to do, and that he is retiring after 44 years as a developer, Video Games Chronicle reported. He mentioned that he has worked on 17 full games and 9 add-on packs, including System Shock, Crusader: No Remorse, and Thief: Deadly Shadows.
Although Spector is retiring, he still has ideas for games he would like to make, with Video Games Chronicle noting that there are three games he would still like to create.
