Star Wars Magellan Footage

Gameplay footage for cancelled Star Wars: Magellan appears online

According to Eurogamer, gameplay footage for Star Wars: Magellan, an action RPG developed by the now-shuttered Echtra Games, has appeared online. The footage was uploaded by a former developer on the project, as reported by MP1st, and shows various characters, including a Jedi and Mandalorian, fighting their way through hordes of enemies.

Eurogamer reports that the game looked to be a loot-centric experience, with enemies dropping gear and equipment of various rarities. Each character appears to have a dedicated set of skills, as well as a small selection of available weapons to play around with. Additionally, MP1st claims that the game would have featured an 'NPC Bond' system, allowing players to form deeper relationships with certain characters involved in the story.

Star Wars: Magellan was intended to release for PC and modern consoles, including PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, according to Eurogamer. The game's developer, Echtra Games, was acquired by Zynga in 2021, and development of the game began that same year. However, little to no information about the game was released in the years following, until Zynga closed down Echtra Games in June 2025.

Zynga has made the difficult decision to cease operations at its Echtra studio, ending development on future titles and reducing roles. This decision is part of a strategic realignment of the company's resources and priorities. We will work closely with impacted employees so they are treated with the utmost respect and consideration
Zynga spokesperson, as reported by Eurogamer
