Witcher Spinoff Team Cut

CD Projekt reduces Project Sirius team by over 20%

CD Projekt has confirmed that it has adjusted the size of the development team for The Witcher spinoff Project Sirius, according to PC Gamer. The company said it has cut 18 people from the team, which represents more than 20% of the team's total staff. This move is intended to reflect the project's needs at its current stage of development.

The cuts include nine employees who have been laid off, with four in Boston and five in Warsaw leaving the company, as reported by PC Gamer. Additionally, nine other employees have been invited to internal recruitment processes for potential roles on other CD Projekt Red projects. The number of people being laid off may seem small compared to other companies, but it represents a significant chunk of the Sirius development team.

Project Sirius has had a tumultuous development process, with CD Projekt acquiring The Molasses Flood in 2021 to work on the game, according to PC Gamer. The plan was to keep The Molasses Flood as a distinct entity, but it was eventually fully absorbed into CD Projekt's structure in 2025. The game has undergone a reboot and updated direction, but details about the game remain scarce, with not even a proper title revealed yet.
