STALKER 2 Update

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl's 2.0 update arrives next week

According to Rock Paper Shotgun, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl's big 2.0 update is set to arrive next week, bringing a plethora of changes to the game. Developer GSC Game World has shared details of the update, which includes a visual upgrade with a focus on lighting adjustments. Indoor lighting is expected to look more realistic, and the general landscape and foliage should appear more natural.

The update also includes improvements to the A-Life system, which now simulates more believable behavior, according to a blog post cited by Rock Paper Shotgun. The Zone will no longer be a constant gunfight, with living creatures having more places to be and stalkers looting the fallen even when the player is not around. Additionally, more campfires, bus stops, and other points of interest will be contested between stalkers and mutants.

Rock Paper Shotgun reports that the update will also introduce custom rules, allowing players to fine-tune elements of the game to make it easier or harder for themselves. This includes options to turn the tutorial on or off, set loot levels, and adjust the difficulty of people and mutants. The master difficulty and expedition mode introduced in previous updates will still be available.

The update will also bring functional fog, which will serve a mechanical purpose beyond just aesthetics, as noted by Rock Paper Shotgun. In the fog, players and enemies will see and hear less, allowing for sneakier gameplay. Hundreds of items that were previously floating have also been fixed, according to the report.
